    Getting some life back

Monday, June 30, 2008, 02:34 PM EST [General]

As of today, Em goes to daycare full-time for the rest of the summer. Having her go only 3 days a week was too infrequent to really establish a routine with her, and she got upset when she had to go. I had tried to keep my drives to a minimum because her daycare is half an hour away and gas is going through the roof.

It didn't work very well, so I will have to suck up the extra expense. Thankfully, its just until school starts in september. Then she will be taking the bus to the school which is just 10 minutes away.

So starting today, I will be able to work 5 days a week, all day. Just like a normal employed person. Though I'm thrilled to bits about it, I am sad too. Em is growing up. School in just 2 months....!

I feel like I am neglecting her by relying so heavily on outside childcare, but the bills have to be paid and trying to work around her is worse. She gets put out of sorts when mommy has to sit at her desk when she wants to play. I know this is better for her but after 4 years, it's also hard to give up that time with her. She's a fun little thing and I will miss having her around so much. It will be evenings and weekends from now on. Her "time at home" phase is over and she is growing up.

And much to my surprise, I'm crying. So I guess I've said enough.

that routine of school will be soo much easier on her after the summer of childcare though. heck, im wishing mine WOULD go somewhere for the week, right now! it comes and goes, just cry and get it out. once the routine is established, you both will be so much happier and more relaxed. my stepkids were horrid when i worked from home, i had to work at night, which meant i was cranky as all get out during the day. i basically napped when they were playing without me, and didnt sleep, except between calls HAHAH

Aww... It's gotta be sad to see her grow up... Don't worry though, you're just going into a new phase with her. She'll always be your little girl.

Jenna will start Preschool in August and my older one will begin 2nd grade. My girls are growing up as fast as Em. No more babies for me but have wonderful memories of these times with them.
